What is the relationship between the Democratic Reform Alliance and civil society movements?

Answer

The relationship between the Democratic Reform Alliance and civil society movements is important.

There are thousands of community groups, civil associations, social movements, unions, churches, businesses, business groups, professional associations, think tanks, blogs, journals, independent news publications, that have no representation through or connection with the major parties and little access to political power but who have a membership database and some access to the media.

The Democratic Reform Alliance seeks to work with civil society organisations by providing them and their memberships with a complementary parliamentary strategy that would ultimately enhance their respective abilities to influence government policy.

The Democratic Reform Alliance’s core mission neither competes with nor contradicts the missions of the social and civil society organisations but complements their public advocacy roles.
